School Leaders Connecting!

A Broad Community of Schools at 2017 EREA School Leaders’ Conference

During the summer holidays, 46 senior students from Edmund Rice Education Australia’s schools attended a four-day EREA Student Leaders’ Conference in North Sydney.

A highlight was Skype conference calls to fellow Edmund Rice School Student Leaders at St Anselm’s, Birkenhead, England; St Marys, Belfast, Northern Ireland; and St Thomas More Collegiate, Vancouver, Canada as part of the Edmund Rice Education Beyond Borders (EREBB) initiative.

The northern hemisphere student leaders offered great insight, being half way through their school year and tenure as leaders, but were also interested in the many student initiatives Australian school leaders were able to share.

Student leaders from St Thomas More Collegiate, Vancouver, were taken aback to hear Bindoon Catholic Agricultural College Captain (Western Australia)  Sarah Barker, describe responsibilities for transporting livestock to Shows and markets and her aspiration of becoming a helicopter pilot on her family’s Northern Territory cattle station where mustering 20,000 Brahman cattle and water buffalo is the norm.
